PM82x

The PM828 module is the latest and highest performance variant of the PM82x module family. It is based on the new MPC8280 chip with HIP7 technology. This allows 450MHz processor spead without increase of heat dissipation in comparison to the PM826 (at 166 MHz). As all interface lines keep compatible the PM828 may be used as an upgrade in any existing PM82x based application. Especially the ATM support makes it an ideal complement to the PM826 module. Additionally the MPC8280 offers now USB V1.1 support. As all processor GPIOs are available to a carrier board this feature can be realized with the PM828 module, too. The PM828 is also available for the extended temperature range (-40°..+85°C).

The PM827 module is similar to the PM828 but lower in cost since it uses the MPC8270 which does not include the Utopia interface and therefore does not support ISDN or ATM.

The module also supports the MPC8250 and the MPC8260 which are earlier Power QUICC II processors.

Miriac Carrier (Miriac modules include PM250, PM520, PM825,PM826, PM827, PM828)
Design of carrier board is simple. It requires only:

  • 3.3 V supplied to module
  • Line drivers depending upon your individual I/O requirements

Three options for carrier boards:

  1. Design your own
  2. Let us design a carrier based upon your I/O requirements, physical dimensions with the required backplane or mezzanine bus interface
  3. The CR826 or CR825 Evaluation Carrier can be used as a design reference or as a target board
